Our material is biaxially oriented crystalline material with polymer chains locked together in a specific lattice structure. This means it is much more higher performing material than PETG material.
The structure gives it enhanced durability, excellent flexibility and rigidity along with highest load carrying capacity.
Final result of Taglus Tough is more comfortable for user due to softer and more pliable material with low flexural strength without compromising much needed elasticity and rigidity for achieving results in long term retainers.
Very low water absorption (0.14%) leads to NON-Smelling aligner even after multiple use by patient, this increase confidence in patient to accept the product with more ease.

Taglus Sheets are protected by masking sheets on both sides, remove the protective sheets AFTER thermoforming and finishing.

What is impact strength?
In material sciences, impact strength is sometimes referred to as cold flow. In this regard, the difference between TAGLUS and other PU and PETG materials is that TAGLUS display time-dependent viscoelastic behavior. Viscoelastic behavior is the property of a material to display both viscous and elastic characteristics when undergoing deformation. It can result from long-term exposure to high levels of stress that are still beneath the yield strength or yield point of the material. The yield strength or yield point of a material is the property defined as the stress at which that material begins to deform permanently. Deformation refers to any change in the shape of an object due to an applied force or a change in temperature. The first instance can be the result of tensile forces, sometimes called pulling forces, compressive forces (pushing forces), or shear, bending or torsion (twisting). Deformation is often described as “strain”. Prior to the yield point, the material will deform elastically and will return to its original shape when the applied stress is removed.
The Izod Impact Strength – Molded Notch as per ASTM D-256 / ISO 180 measured in ft-lb/in Notch shows that Taglus tough is having expectionally high impact strength of 17.4 ft-lb/in which is the highest in all class of retainers making it virtually crack free retainer for prolonged use.
Flexural modulus of elasticity of Taglus Tough is reduced to 260,000 psi which is adjusted in such a manner that it exhibits unique combination of Flexiblity and Rigidity making it most comfortable to wear for prolonged use in Retainers.
Strength is how much force is required to break a sample. This graph is tensile stress vs elongation @ break. Taglus P with elongation @ break = 160% and tensile stress 9700 psi exhibits that it is a strong material to exhert high orthodontic force which is requirement of Aligners, but on the opposite side is Taglus Tough which has elongation @ break = 210% with same tensile stress exhibits both properties of strength and toughness which is utmost important property for long terms retainers.
Elasticity with rigidity is the property which makes TAGLUS a most reliable retainer. As the retainers made from TAGLUS are perfectly adapted in thermofroming and would never crack with its optical clarity makes it a ideal situation for both patient and doctor.
The same properties that make TAGLUS a best choice for retainers make it applicable for temporary bridges with/without pontics. Many times temporary bridge breaks due to stress and gets weared off, but because of high flexural modulus and high hardness value TAGLUS would not crack nor would get scratched as PU and PETG.
TAGLUS gets bonded to all light and heat cured acrylics. TAGLUS sheets adapted with pressure is the best way to insure 100% model record. TAGLUS with cross link acrylics added does not debond and doesn’t give mis fits. Splints with thermo formed TAGLUS base are more stable due to zero curing shrinkage.
We tested Taglus material at McGill Engineering. Physical characteristics are as least as good and in several instances superior to other popular brands of thermoforming material. We then ran a pilot clinical trial that showed that Taglus moved teeth predictably and was as or more comfortable as two other popular material. We are continuing our research but preliminary results are very promising.
